Timeless – Aldersbach mosaicwalk 2023
DOMO: The German organization for mosaic art received the offer from Aldersbach to organize the annual mosaic walk around mosaic art for 2023. So the 15th edition is called ‘Timeless, mosaic art in transition’. Both traditional and contemporary mosaic works are shown by an international group of artists.
More than 90 artists from 15 countries registered, the international jury chose 57 works to exhibit here.
My work that was selected is called ‘Lady in Blue(s)’ and can be seen in the beautifully renovated convent that also serves as a hotel. The exhibition up to November 4, 2023. So many more chances to visit!
Explanation about the work:
Did you know that this gesture, which we all know, dates back to the Greeks and was later adopted by the Romans? At that time, however, the gesture did not have a negative connotation as it does with us today. So it definitely belongs in the theme of timeless and in my series of mosaics ‘Roman with a twist’ because I can imagine that the Romans would also depict this… they liked a bit of humor and a bit of provocation from time to time, right? ? Timeless not only because of the ‘theme’ but mosaic in itself I consider timeless as well as the Roman mosaics on which I base my work.
When you visit, you have the opportunity to vote for your favorite work, you can do this via a QR code. Definitely do I would say.
Apart from the exhibition, a sculpture garden has also been created with 3D mosaic works including the beautiful work of Dagmar Friedrich, you can see her standing next to her work in a photo below, she deserves a special mentioning, because she taught me everything I know about andamenti. My eternal gratitude goes to her for that.
When the exhibition is over, the public’s choice will be announced, so hopefully more news later ;-).
We also came across our previously sent works in which we participated to draw attention to Afghan women under the name ‘Hanging by a thread’.
