Rape is a breakdown of normal behavior. It is more violent aggression than desire for sex. Rapists are angry violent men who use rape as a means to express their violence. If rape becomes more prevalent in times of famine it is because men are angry and social norms and laws are breaking down. I doubt rape becomes more prevalent without other types of aggressive acting out also becoming more common.

Nobody wakes up thinking ‘Climate change is going to kill me today’. To the contrary everybody old enough to have any of the wealth and power pie of western industrial civilization is thinking ‘COVID could kill me today’. Climate change or COVID, both can kill and both produce fear. Any difference in the quantity of fear produced by these two problems can not explain the disparity with which we focus on the two problems. We focus on COVID because it is an immediate threat.
The denial of death machinery of the human brain is in total control of climate change because the threat is not immediate. The denial of death machinery of the human brain is switched off concerning COVID because the threat is immediate.
Awareness of the denial of death psychic machinery can be cultivated but the default awareness is, as you can guess, denial of it.
