mighty mouse v2.0
in honour of the ‘mighty mouse approach to the revolution’:
‘i will become good, i will raise my children to be good, and the world will be better’.
this ‘mighty mouse’ fails as many more become bad, NOT through their fault.
so i propose a new ‘mighty mouse’:
“two people agree to help each other live better lives. each agrees that when they are empowered enough, they will engage with another person. and so on, for ever.”
basics
i will live a better life when i do better things for others and myself. i will live a better life when i stop doing things that hurt others and myself. more good and less bad.
most people will need help because in our authoritarian culture, problems are denied, victims are blamed, harm is excused, and problems are not fixed and prevented. the fate of whistle-blowers will persuade one of that.
because problem solving is new, it is unnatural, problems are not easy to describe and explain, alternative behaviours and attitudes are hard to invent, choices are not easy to make, and persistence is needed to change old habits.
and then we need to learn to co-operate, to learn others’ rights, to be obliged to give others their rights, and to recognize our own rights.
it is unnatural to be on their side. it is unnatural to be there for one’s self.
